Making a Nature Photography Hotspot - how taking care of the small things leads to more opportunities for my workshop participants.

Writer's picture: Russell GravesRussell Graves

The conservation work at Hackberry Farm is a long-term process. For the past five years, I've been working on various aspects of my conservation plan for the property in order to give those who attend my nature photography workshops more things in which to photograph.

In the winter of 2025, it was time to get the grass, forbs, and pollinators planted in the spaces that once were merely monocultural hay fields. In the future, the areas that were mostly devoid of wildlife will now be a thriving home for insects, birds, and mammals.

The future of the this place starts today.
